A Clear Starting Point for a Cooling Problem
A fridge can make its usual sound while food feels warmer than normal. It can also cool one section while the other changes. HVAC & Appliance Repair Guys provides refrigerator repair in Portland Metro. We check the actual fault before proposing a part or repair.
Start with what you see in the fridge and freezer. Tell us which area has changed, when you first noticed it and whether the change lasts all day. You can describe the problem without pulling the unit out or opening a cover. Normal use often provides enough detail to begin a request.
Compare the Two Compartments
If the fresh-food section is warm, note whether the freezer has also lost cooling. If food freezes in the fridge, say where it happens. A cold spot near one shelf differs from a change across the whole cabinet. Keep any temperature readings separate from the setting on the control.
A selected setting tells us what you asked the unit to do. It does not prove that the food space reached that temperature. If you already have a thermometer reading, give the time and location of that reading. You do not need to buy a measuring tool before calling us.
For a separate freezer rather than a combined fridge, use our freezer repair service. Identifying the equipment correctly helps us review the scope. A side-by-side pair of built-in units may have two models even when the fronts look alike.
Water, Ice and Noise Give Different Clues
Water beneath a drawer calls for a different description from a drip at the door dispenser. State where you first see the water and when it returns. Include a recent filter change or move if one took place. The timing gives context but does not prove the cause.
Tell us if ice output changed along with cooling. An empty bin differs from a full bin that will not dispense. Our ice maker repair page explains that part of the service in more detail. We can review both complaints together when they involve the same fridge.
For noise, describe its location and timing. A short sound when a door closes differs from a constant scrape or repeated click. A brief recording may help explain a sound that stops before the visit. It cannot identify a failed part on its own.
How We Assess the Repair
We review the model, symptoms and current condition of the unit. The checks follow the complaint: cooling, door closure, frost, airflow or the water path may need attention. We explain which findings support the proposed repair. We also tell you what the visit has not yet established.
The service call costs $99 and counts toward the total price of an approved repair. If you choose not to proceed, that diagnostic charge remains due. We explain the repair price before work begins. Parts needs and availability can affect when we can complete the job.
Consider the cabinet, doors and repair history as well as the immediate fault. For a built-in fridge, replacement also involves the opening, panels and access route. Compare the full replacement project with the repair proposal. A familiar brand or a certain age does not decide the result by itself.
Prepare the Space Without Moving the Fridge
Send a model-label photo if you can reach the label safely. A wider photo can show fitted panels, a tight opening or nearby cabinets. Leave the appliance in place and explain any access limits. We can discuss what space the visit needs before you move items around it.
Same-day service is available, subject to availability. Provide your address so we can confirm the visit, and mention any other appliance in the request. The appliance repair overview covers the wider range of equipment. A confirmed appointment does not guarantee a completed repair that day.
Frequently Asked Questions
Should I keep changing the setting to test the fridge?
Repeated changes make the sequence harder to describe. Record the current setting and the changes you already made. Tell us how the fridge behaved after each change rather than continuing to adjust it for a test.
Can you include a damaged drawer or door part in the request?
Yes. List that concern separately from the cooling fault and provide the model. We review each requested item. A cooling repair quote does not include every cabinet or trim part unless we list it in the scope.
What if the noise stops before the appointment?
Keep the appointment details and tell us when the sound usually occurs. Share an existing recording if available. An intermittent complaint may need a different assessment from a fault that stays present throughout the visit.
