Choose the right service
Start with the Sub-Zero unit that changed
Sub-Zero refrigeration may be a single built-in refrigerator/freezer, separate refrigerator and freezer columns, an undercounter ice maker, wine storage, or a drawer unit. Naming the affected appliance and symptom is more useful than trying to identify the failed part.
The model and installation also matter. A Classic unit with a top grille, a panel-ready Designer column, a PRO refrigerator, and an undercounter appliance can require different access and preparation.

The symptom pattern helps define the visit
Note where the symptom appears, whether it is constant or intermittent, and whether another compartment still works normally.
- Not cooling or not freezingRecord the displayed setting and the temperature behavior of each compartment.
- Frost or condensationPhotograph where ice or moisture appears and check whether the door closes normally.
- Water on a shelf or floorDescribe whether it is near a filter, dispenser, ice maker, drawer, or cabinet opening.
- No ice or unusual cubesNote production speed, cube size, clumping, recent filter changes, and water-flow changes.
- Alarm, code, or control problemPhotograph the display and record what was happening when the message appeared.
- New noise or long run timeDescribe the sound, where it seems loudest, and whether it changes when a door opens.
Built-in access matters
Show the appliance and the kitchen around it
Sub-Zero equipment can be integrated with cabinetry, custom door panels, toe kicks, overhead grilles, water connections, and adjacent appliances. A wide photo helps the service team plan around those conditions.
Leave fitted equipment and panels in place unless the team gives different preparation instructions.
- Full installationInclude surrounding cabinetry, floor, grille or toe kick, and nearby island clearance.
- Model informationSend a clear rating-plate photo when it is visible without removing fitted parts.
- Affected areaShow the shelf, drawer, door, display, frost pattern, leak, or ice bin involved.
- Access conditionsMention stairs, gates, parking, narrow passages, pets, or other details relevant to the visit.
Repair planning
Repair or replacement depends on the unit and the installation
The Sub-Zero name alone does not decide the answer. The practical choice follows diagnosis, condition, repair history, parts path, and the consequences of replacing fitted refrigeration.
Repair may be the practical direction when
- the cabinet, doors, and installation remain in good condition;
- the problem is isolated and the needed work is clearly defined;
- the appliance still fits the kitchen and household needs;
- recent service history does not show repeating major failures.
Replacement deserves comparison when
- major problems repeat or affect more than one system;
- doors, cabinet condition, corrosion, or prior modifications complicate repair;
- needed parts or a practical repair option are not available;
- replacement fit, panels, cabinetry, or other project work changes the total decision.

Before requesting service
Sub-Zero appliance repair questions
Which Sub-Zero appliances can I request service for?
Requests are accepted for Sub-Zero refrigerators, freezers, combination units, columns, drawers, wine storage, undercounter refrigeration, and ice makers. Send the model and symptom so the team can confirm the service details.
Do I need the model number before I call?
No. Start with the information you have. A clear rating-plate photo is helpful when the label is accessible, but do not remove fitted panels or move a built-in appliance just to find it.
Can I request service if only one compartment is affected?
Yes. Explain which section changed and whether the other compartments still hold their normal temperature. That comparison is useful when the service visit is planned.
Should I pull a built-in refrigerator out before the visit?
No. Leave built-in, integrated, panel-ready, and large-format equipment in place unless the service team gives different instructions.
How much is the service call?
The repair and diagnostic visit has a $99 service call. If you approve the repair, the $99 is credited toward the repair total; if you decline the repair, the service-call charge remains payable.
Are you authorized by Sub-Zero?
No. HVAC & Appliance Repair Guys is an independent service company and is not an authorized service center for Sub-Zero or other manufacturers.
